Our tools give you an opinion, not a guarantee. SCAMcheck, URLcheck and CALLback use artificial intelligence to look for common warning signs of scams. They can help you pause and think before you act. They cannot promise that something is safe, or that something is a scam.
Our tools can be wrong. A real scam may look harmless, and a genuine message may look suspicious. Scammers change their methods constantly, and no tool catches everything.
Always check for yourself before you act. Before sending money, sharing personal information, clicking a link, or calling a number:
- Contact the company, bank or agency directly, using a phone number or website you already know is real, such as the number on your card or statement. Never use the contact details in the suspicious message.
- When in doubt, talk to someone you trust before doing anything.
This is not professional advice. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, tax, medical or security advice. For those, please consult a qualified professional.
If you think you've already been scammed, act quickly:
- Call your bank or card company right away, using the number on your card.
- Report it to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- For internet crimes, you can also report to the FBI at ic3.gov.
- If you're in danger, call 911.
Please don't submit passwords, full account numbers or Social Security numbers. Our tools don't need them to do their job.
